Minutes 3-14-08 Meeting
The garden club met at the North Manchester Library on March 14th for the first meeting of 2008. We welcomed new members by each of the current members first getting to know one new person and then introducing them. We hope that we made them feel welcome.
Danna Walters, our president, introduced the officer’s which are as follows:
Martha Music – Vice President
Rhonda Swaidner – Secretary
Debbie Bauer – Treasurer
Leesa Metzger – Media
Rick Bauer – Garden Club book and web site
Karen Hewitt – Garden of the Month
Debbie reported our balance in our account is $1,209.67.
Danna would like us to adopt a mission statement and we agreed. She also gave some information on our club and what we do. We are a non-profit organization. We sell honey hoes and engraved bricks so we are able to take trips and purchase items we need. Our dues are $10.00 a year. We maintain the Eel River Gardens and share plants and gardening tips with each other.
Our next meeting will be April 10th at Linda Richards’s home at 109 E 9th St. Bernie Ferringer of the Manchester Greenhouse will be doing a presentation on roses. On April 12th we will meet at the home of Rhonda Swaidner at 8:00 for breakfast and then we will clean the Eel River Gardens in preparation for the Tulip Festival at Peabody and for planting later.
Bricks can be purchased at anytime at the cost of $50.00. If anyone knows of any missing bricks, let us know. The new bricks had not been laid at this time.
We decided that this year we would try harder to water the gardens. Danna suggested we sign up for a week or two and each is responsible for watering at that time. Everyone agreed and signed up for the week or weeks of their choice.
We are planning on purchasing T-shirts in conjunction with America in Bloom and N Manchester Tourism. We will need to decide on a logo for our group. We agreed that “Planting Pride together in North Manchester” would go on the shirt if the two other groups agree.
