We met at the Blocher room in the library for a PowerPoint presentation by Leesa Metzger (Metzger Landscaping & Design) and some current trends in gardening. Angie provided cookies and drinks. Leesa pointed out that Americans are beginning to spend more money on landscaping than on traveling vacations, hence the great interest in creating vacation-like landscapes at home. Here are some trends:

Old Fashioned Hydrangeas
Smaller, compact gardens
Dwarf Plants
Tropicals are hot, hot, hot!

We also viewed slides from the San Francisco Botanical Gardens including the Japanese Tea Gardens and the Flower Conservatory.
