We met at Linda Richards' beautiful home for a PowerPoint presentation by Leesa Metzger MG on Landscape Design.  In addition to showing us the many "before and after" landscaping projects that she has done, and some landscapes that she particularly likes, Leesa outlined in detail how to make an Outdoor Room work.  Leesa suggests that you position your Outdoor Room close to a room in your house that you use often so that they will work together.  A pleasing Outdoor Room should have the following elements:

bullet A Ceiling or canopy
bullet Walls or hedge to define the space
bullet A Floor or paver (Leesa likes bricks or cobblestone)
bullet A Grand Entrance for a first impression

Leesa also addressed water gardens, the importance of vertical planes, and the added dimension of sound and motion in the garden.  After snacks members shared their "favorite tree" with the group, and we planned the town gardens.    [ more photos]
